Parkinsons Disease Parkinson's disease usually affects people of late middle age. Most run between the age of 50-60. The symptoms of Parkinson's disease are usually subtle and occur gradually. Some examples of symptoms a person may have, are feeling shaky or having trouble getting up from a chair or a couch. Others may notice that their speaking is softer or quieter. They will lose track of a thought or feel irritable or even depressed for no reason. These are early symptoms that may last a long time before the more classic and obvious symptoms appear. For now there is no way to cure or prevent Parkinson's disease from happening., but there has been new research looking at (PET) Position Emission Topography. This will allow scientists to scan the brain, which see chemical change that occurs in the brain. Using PET scientists can study the brain's nerve cells that are affected by disease. IF you are in the major stages of Parkinson's disease the major symptoms are tremors, problems walking, bradykinesia, and rigidity. Rigidity is an increase of stiffness in the muscles. If it is eased by medications, rigidity is always present. It's also responsible for a mask like expression. In some patients it leads to sensations of pain in the arms and shoulders. Secondly, victims with experience bradykinesia, which means slowness of movement. It causes the brains to react slower in its transmission of instructions to parts of the body therefore causing the body to act slowly in carrying them out. Poor balance is often true when victims move abruptly. Some patients experience falls due to poor balance. Last are tremors, they will affect three out of four patients. Tremors may affect only one part or side of the body. For the most part they don't disable people and it disappears during sleep. Some minor symptoms are depression, emotional changes, memory loss, difficulty swallowing, and chewing. At this point there is no cure for Parkinson's disease but there are a wide variety of medications that provide relief for the symptoms. Treatments are determined by how much the symptoms affect the person by a physician. Most of the medications will have to be adjusted to a countable dosage for the patients. In the early stage the physicians begin with one or two less powerful drugs. They saved the most powerful medicines for the time when patients need it the most. One of the most common medicines is Levodopa. Levodopa allows the nerve cells to use it to make dopamine with which the brain can use. It prevents or delays some symptoms in most patients. It also extends the time in which some patients can lead some normal lives. There are some side effects that could happen like nausea, vomiting, low-blood pressure, and restlessness. Symmevel which is used as an anti flu medication but it is also used with Parkinson's patients too. It reduces the symptoms of rigidity. Some other is anthicholinergics, selegiline, and deprehyl. A physician will also strongly suggest that to remain active in the early stages they will tell you to perform daily activities as much as possible. Taking supplements of vitamin E is showed to help somewhat. For the tremors, medication or anything relaxing will sooth them down too. When Parkinson's disease gets in the later stages physicians will help design exercise programs to help meet your specific needs. Last, they will also suggest for you to get a cane or a walker because the patient will be more prone to fall. Science 1 Investigation   Essays Science 1 Investigation   Essay Science 1 Investigation   Essay To investigate the effect of huddling on temperature loss in a model animal Planning Penguins and other animals in cold conditions often huddle together for warmth. I am going to do an investigation to see if this method is effective. I will do this by testing the temperature of water from a test tube every minute for ten minutes and then test the temperature of the water from two test tubes in a huddle of seven, one from the middle and one from the edge. I will make the test is fair by measuring out 10cm of water in each of the test tubes by using a beaker. I will also make sure, by using a thermometer, that its at an equal temperature at the start of the experiment. I will also repeat the investigation at least twice to make sure my results are conclusive. Since I will be dealing with hot water I will have to be as careful as possible not to spill it. I will do this by keeping the test tubes in test tube racks when not in use. Prediction I predict that the test tube in the middle of the huddle will stay at a higher temperature and that the lone test tubes temperature will drop at a faster rate. I think this will happen because: * Heat energy causes particles to vibrate more rapidly so extra kinetic energy in the particles will get dissipated to the surroundings. * The lone test tube is not insulated and because of this the heat loss will be greater. Where as the test tube in the middle of the huddle will be insulated by the other six test tubes. * The heat radiation from the test tubes in the huddle will keep the temperature from dropping as fast as the lone test tube will. The lone test tube cooled at a greater speed than the inside test tube and at the end of experiment 1 there is a difference of 10à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½c which is clearly shown on the line of best fit graph. The inside test tubes temperature decreases at a fairly steady rate of 1à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½c 2à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½c per minute. Where as the lone test tube doesnt seem to follow a steady pattern and can decrease at the rate of 1à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½c 5à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½c per minute. So in conclusion I have found out that the huddling of penguins and other animals is very effective for keeping heat in the bodies and stopping heat energy becoming dissipated to its surroundings. Evaluation I felt that my results were not completely reliable due to lack of equipment. I had planned on using a Bunsen Burner to heat my water to the correct temperature but had to use a kettle, which made it hard to get an equal starting temperature. Because of this I based my conclusion for experiment 1 on how many degrees Celsius the temperature would decrease per minute. After repeating the experiment with an equal starting temperature I feel that my results are conclusive. Also, in experiment 1, there is a surprising rise in temperature that I have circled in yellow on my graph. This is probably due to my thermometer touching the side of the glass test tube. This doesnt have an effect on my final conclusion as I did a second experiment. I found that after doing my second experiment the results followed a very similar pattern and are therefore conclusive.

The performance of the employee can be analysed and proper justification can be given while appraisal of the salaries. The employees are the asset to the organization. If the employees with a high caliber are selected for the company, the company can gain their experience and run in making profits. * Selecting of the proper HRIS system after examining the need of the organization. The management has to select a proper HRIS system for the organization.   The organization has to first set up a team to manage the selection process of the HRIS system. The next step must be the team has to set a goal for the project. Once the goals are developed, The vendor who will be supplying the system has to be selected precisely. The actual need of what the organization is looking has to be identified. Demonstration for the new product has to be checked by the team members. Once the demonstrations are finished and all the questions have been answered, the selection has to be done. After selecting the vendor, the technical environment of the company and whether the new application will be suited for the same technical environment has to be verified.   After doing the budgeting and proper research the system has to be selected and implementation has to started. * Carefully entering the employee information within the system The next important part of the system will be to enter the employee information from starch. Many people think that they are not college material when struggling the first couple of years. Not being able to set their goals and know what they want to be could be very frustrating for them. College helps you figure out who you really are and who you want to be. Not all college students will know exactly what they want to study after high school, not all college students will know during college. By exploring different classes and careers you will find out what makes you happy. Happiness varies from person to person. For one person having a career they love will bring happiness, for others money is the only means of their happiness. Happiness comes from the persons standards and goals a person has set for themselves. Happiness is reached when goals are accomplished or are on pursuit of being achieved. When in high school most students are trying to personally develop on who they are. Once they are in college they start to develop personally on whey will be, and what they plan on doing for the rest of their lives. I like many students did not know what to do out of high school, I wanted to go off to college with my friends but my parents had other plans. They knew I was not ready for a four-year college. They knew me better than I knew myself, if I had gone straight to a university I would have made the same mistakes I made here at Imperial Valley College. My first year here at IVC I had no interest in classes, I was mostly interested in hanging out with my friends. It took me a year and a half of messing around to figure out what I wanted to do. When I had a moment of enlightenment on my future it was in my elected human relations class. During the semester we would visit the career center often searching professions that are available. There was a program that we would use called Eureka that was like an assessment test on what might like to do as a career. It would ask an endless number of questions on your likes and dislikes. You would input on what goals you might have for yourself such as how much money you would like to make, how many hours you wanted to work, and what kind of settings you would work in.

Myofibrils are thread like fibres which run along one another within the muscle fibre. Furthermore, within myofibrils are contained contractile sheaths called sarcomeres. In turn these consist of thick (myosin) and thin (actin) protein myofilaments. While contractions occur the myosin and actin filaments slide across one another causing the sarcomeres to shorten. When many sarcomeres shorten at once, the entire fibre contracts thus creating movement. Muscles are surrounded by connective tissues. These consist of two types of protein fibres, collagenous and elastic. Collagnous tissue provides resistance to tension while elastic tissue provides elasticity. These connective tissues consist of tendons, ligaments and fascial sheaths. The fascial sheaths are categorized into three types. The three categories are Endomysium, Perimysium, and Epimysium. Endomysium are the inner sheaths and bind single muscle fibres, perimysium are sheaths which binds numerous muscle fibres, and epimysium are the outer sheaths which bind the entire muscle fibre. ...
